1 Corinthians 14 and Edification

WORSHIP ARTICLE | T. Sean Sullivan | Paragould, Arkansas

Introduction:
Being built up in the knowledge of God’s will was different way back when Paul penned the first epistle to the Corinthians. In the early church, before the completion of God’s inspired revelation, the hearts of the brethren were built up by the information given through gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 14:1-40). Fruit of the Spirit : Shining Longsuffering, Kindness, and Goodness

APPLICATION ARTICLE T. Sean Sullivan | Paragould, Arkansas

Introduction
We all, as Christians, have the responsibility to “shine as lights in the world” (Philippians 2:15). Paul writes about being a shining example in Galatians 5:22-25, with the “fruit of the Spirit.” We are blessed to live in a divinely designed way and directed to help all others see, seek, and find it too.

Let’s consider the life of love, joy, and peace being complemented by “longsuffering, kindness, and goodness” so we can discover the value of these blessings and shine them brightly for all others to see. Read More

Fruit of the Spirit : Shining Love, Joy, and Peace

APPLICATION ARTICLE | T. Sean Sullivan | Paragould, Arkansas

Introduction
As Christians, we are responsible to “shine as lights in the world” (Philippians 2:15). This is an interesting directive which is clarified by Paul’s next inspired statement. In Philippians 2:16a, Paul says, “holding fast the word of life.” This is where we are instructed in proper “shining.” We learn from this that God provides the instructions for shining as we should.

A life transformed by obedience to the will of God will be noticed in this world of darkness. Others will take note of the true changes and the intensity of those changes when we let them shine. Galatians 5:22-25 speaks of the wonderful results found in submitting to God, denying the flesh, and focusing on what is best for your soul. In this first lesson, we will focus on the life of “love, joy, and peace.” We will consider how these blessings brighten our walk and the quality of our shine on those around us. Read More

An understanding of the Lord’s church is essential not only for its current members but for all souls who in any way seek eternal life in Heaven. The desire of any soul to be involved in the local church is met with a “pattern” provided in the form of “sound words” (2 Timothy 1:13). From this “pattern of sound words” we can find, or form, a local church to function in. Read More

The Inspiration of the Scriptures

BEYOND THE BASICS | T. Sean Sullivan | Paragould, Arkansas

Introduction:
This world is full of books. Solomon in ancient days proclaimed, “Of making many books there is no end…” (Ecclesiastes 12:12). Many thousands of books are inspirational, but only one small collection of books is “inspired.”

The collection of 66 books that we know as the Bible, is the revelation of the mind of God. In 2 Timothy 3:16, Paul said, “All Scripture is given by the inspiration of God…” It is this divine action of “inspiration” that sets the Bible apart from any other book on the planet. Read More

Our Beautiful Hope

APPLICATION ARTICLE T. Sean Sullivan | Paragould, Arkansas

Introduction:
The Apostle Peter in 2 Peter 3:15-16 makes us aware of the fact that Paul’s inspired writings can be “hard to understand.” Among the most difficult is arguably Paul’s letter to the Romans and within that letter, perhaps, chapter seven is at the top.

That being said, if we properly understand Romans 7, in its natural context, we will embrace the glorious hope of our better covenant. Yes, there are some phrases within its 25 verses that are certainly difficult, but it is the overall picture that brings us the joy of one very special word. That word is “forgiveness.” Forgiveness is a glaring contrast between the Law of the Moses (the Old Law) and the New Covenant (the Law of Christ). Read More
