The book of Hebrews presents Jesus Christ as our Great High Priest.

“Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house” (3:1-2)

In order for Jesus to be High Priest from the tribe of Judah, there had to be a change in the law. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is that last will and testament which establishes Him as the High Priest over the church today. He is both King and Priest! Read More

The Great Commission

EVANGELISM ARTICLE | Wayne Goff | Kansas City, Missouri

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

Contextually speaking, the great commission of Matthew 28 was given to the eleven apostles (v. 16) shortly before Jesus ascended into heaven. It was not given to every Christian, but every Christian should feel the obligation to share the gospel with friends, family, acquaintances, and even foes, if they will listen. We say this because after the apostles began preaching the great commission in Acts 2, those three thousand plus who were converted “continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine” (Acts 2:42). The Bride Of Christ

CHURCH ARTICLE | Wayne Goff | Kansas City, Missouri

The Union
Ephesians 5:25-33 describes the relationship of the church (God’s people) to Jesus Christ (Head). While comparing this relationship to an earthly marriage, the Scriptures teach us that Jesus Christ is the Head of His bride and Savior. The corresponding obligation of Christ’s bride is to be subject to Jesus Christ in everything. This obligation is explained further (vv. 25-27) to be due to the tremendous sacrifice Jesus made for His bride! He loved her, and He died for her. He cleansed her with His blood through the washing of water by the word. If these sacrifices were not enough, Paul states even further that Christ sacrificed Himself for her that He might present her to Himself a glorious, spotless bride that is holy and without blemish! Every Member, Everywhere, All The Time

EVANGELISM ARTICLE | Wayne Goff | Kansas City, Missouri

“Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word,” (Acts 8:4).

The thrust of this article is to encourage congregations to have every member be completely involved in evangelism, as opposed to having one or two do all the work. The first church on earth, the church in Jerusalem, was scattered throughout Judea, Samaria, Galilee, and finally a large part of the Roman empire – but they continued to preach the Word! These people were not trained in special approaches or certain “steps,” but they had been taught by the apostles and were convicted. This, I am convinced, is where we need to start today. Read More

The Church Is God’s Special People

CHURCH ARTICLE

Jesus Christ came to deliver mankind from his sin (Matthew 1:21). Sin has always separated man from God (Isaiah 59:1-2), and sin caused us to be spiritually dead (Ephesians 2:1). The sacrifice of Jesus’ own precious blood has redeemed us from the guilt of sin and from the power of death which sin caused (1 Peter 1:18-19; Ephesians 2:4-7). This redemption causes great joy among the saved (see Acts 8:8, 39). It is a privilege to be a child of God, and an eternal heir of the grace of life (Romans 8:16-17). Read More
